Bridal Seamstress

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site role for a Bridal Seamstress based in Maribyrnong, Victoria. The Bridal Seamstress will be responsible for providing high-quality alterations and tailoring services to ensure each wedding gown fits beautifully and meets the individual needs of every bride. Responsibilities include conducting fittings, altering garments, performing intricate alterations, and completing finishing work to a high standard. The role requires excellent attention to detail, precision, and an understanding of bridal fabrics, construction, and garment fit. The Bridal Seamstress will work closely with brides and the boutique team to ensure a seamless and positive experience throughout the alteration process.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Seamstress, Tailor, or Garment Alterations Specialist, preferably within the bridal or luxury fashion industry

• Strong knowledge of garment construction, tailoring techniques, and bridal gown alterations

• Experience with intricate alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out garments, adjusting bodices, sleeves, straps, and necklines

• Excellent fitting skills with the ability to assess garment fit and recommend appropriate alterations

• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and precision

• Ability to work confidently with delicate and luxury fabrics, lace, beading, embroidery, and structured gowns

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with brides and understand their individual needs

• Ability to manage multiple gowns, fittings, and deadlines in a fast-paced boutique environment

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain a clean, organised, and professional work area

• A passion for bridal fashion and pride in delivering exceptional workmanship

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider boutique team

• Previous experience in the bridal or luxury fashion industry is required
